Business Requirements
Business objectives provide an explanation for the purpose to implement a WLAN.
User Requirements
User requirements include the goals or tasks that users must perform when using the WLAN.
Technical Requirements
Functional or technical requirements are capabilities that, when implemented, allow the WLAN to meet the business and users’ requirements.
Requirement Type | Definition | Example |
User | User goals or tasks that users must perform using the WLAN | Walk around while maintaining connectivity to a web server |
Business | Business goals or objectives that must be met by the WLAN | Compliance with corporate security policy |
Functional | The technical capabilities of the WLAN that allow for or support user and business requirements | WLAN Fast Secure Roaming or IEEE 802.11i support |
Regulatory Requirements
Also called regulatory constraints, imposed by regulations or parent companies.
Budgetary Procedures
BoM = Bill of Materials
The BoM will act as the materials budget and the manager can use this to perform complete budget management.
BCWP = Budgeted Cost of Work Performed
ACWP = Actual Cost of Work Performed
BCWS = Budgeted Cost of Work Scheduled
Business Justification
All organizations have the following objectives:
- Quality Improvement
- Efficiency Improvement
- Cost Reduction
- Increased Production
- Organizational Continuity
Information Gathering
The WLAN designer must discover the needs of the organization.
